Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
