'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from distance, and the defender immediately hammered in the deflection before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that development for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with a teammate, the Brazilian, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
