Ange Postecoglou stood his ground as Forest supporters demanded his dismissal after only a short period in control
A damaging two-three Europa League defeat to Midtjylland leaves the manager without a victory in his first six games at the helm of Forest
He is now the first full-time Forest manager in a century to fail to win in any of his initial six fixtures
After the opposition player scored the away team's late third goal at the home stadium, many fans chanted "You're getting sacked in the morning" towards the ex-Spurs boss
"The fans are upset. They are entitled to have an view on it. I heard their opinion," said a somber manager, who was also booed as he walked off the pitch at full-time
"Nothing shocks me in football. It's the environment we're in. It seems that's the way matters are going. It's something I can control"
It was just over four months prior when Postecoglou was lifting the Europa League with Tottenham, but he was dismissed 16 days after, paying the price for a poor league season. Now he is struggling to achieve victories right at another club
The initial continental match at the stadium for nearly three decades ended in crushing letdown, and the accusations was directed towards Postecoglou before the game's end had sounded
Rubbing it in, fans then sung in praise of Postecoglou's predecessor Nuno, who is now with another Premier League side
Nuno led Forest to a top-half finish in the top flight the previous year before being dismissed as his relationship with owner the chairman deteriorated
Loss to the Danish opponents followed the weekend's 1-0 defeat at home to Sunderland in the Premier League
Such outcomes have changed the atmosphere at Forest, with fans also starting to question the owner
"My responsibility is to make sure we secure victories for this football club and progress it," remarked Postecoglou
"I would prefer if people were optimistic in their view of what I'm doing. I can only change that by securing wins of soccer
"Regardless, that's not going to affect the way I am handling things on. I strongly feel in the approach of what we're doing and I don't think we're far away from being the squad that can solve the situation we're in at the moment and get the results"
Forest invested approximately 180 million pounds in the off-season, looking to build on last season's achievements, but Nuno was sacked recently after his relationship with the owner worsened
Postecoglou replaced him on 9 September, but the team have been unable to maintain the prior season's momentum and found it tough against their opponents from the Danish league
The manager from Australia believes his squad remain near a turnaround
"Yes I do, nothing I saw this evening alters any of that," Postecoglou said. "I get the mood around the place isn't going to be great, and I appreciate people's stance at the moment, particularly directed at me, but it's a situation I've faced before for me
"I believe we are on the right track and when we get through this period of uncertainty we are in, we will be on a good path"
Chris Wood's injury-time penalty failed to rescue Forest who previously let in first period scores from one attacker and Mads Bech, around a teammate's leveler
The side tied 2-2 at Real Betis recently and go to the Magpies in the league on the weekend before the pause for national teams
Postecoglou said: "It's a disappointing result from us. It was an significant night for many reasons and [a] similar tale, us letting ourselves down in crucial instances and facing an uphill battle
"If you allow the chance to score every time they get near your net, it's going to be difficult to secure victories of football"
Is the manager be allowed patience?
We know that Marinakis is not afraid to make swift decisions if he feels matters are failing
At his other club, he sacked former Huddersfield manager a previous appointment after only 48 days as head coach, while the ex-manager's departure came a short time after he signed a new three-year deal
Currently the focus falls on Postecoglou
"I feel he will get extra time because he was hired by the owner," former Forest and West Ham striker Michail Antonio commented on a sports network
"He will give him additional leeway to get his philosophy in place, because at present it seems he is struggling to get his tactics over to the players"
Ex-player and Leicester boss Martin O'Neill added: "Victories are the key objective - it is as simple as that
"The crowd were already against him in many aspects, but we are a handful of matches in, it's too soon to know the name of the tea lady after that amount of duration"
On the jeers, O'Neill continued: "One must handle with all the distractions around you. You can't allow it dictate everything, but you cannot ignore it"
