From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
